Dr. Cindy Bix Camp Scholarship Fund

Provides summer camp for youth.

Growing up in Minneapolis, our daughter Cindy went to a number of Jewish camps. These were the summer experiences she looked forward to throughout the year. At camp, she grew up visibly — physically, emotionally, and spiritually. She embraced everything her camping experience gave her. It made her the person she became in adulthood: a caring, thoughtful and loving person, involved in everyone around her. Cindy told us, repeatedly, that she could not think of a better way to spend her summers.

To honor Cindy’s memory, we have established the “Dr. Cindy Bix Camp Scholarship Fund” at the Mandel JCC. By creating this fund, we hope to impact the lives of hundreds of underprivileged children in Palm Beach County by enabling them to attend Camp Shalom at the JCC.

Summer Camp is a unique opportunity for growth increasing independence and self-confidence in our youth and creating a fun and safe atmosphere for kids to be kids. Camp Shalom offers a wide variety of ways for children to thrive and learn new skills, while making memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. We feel that contributing to this incredible program is an appropriate and meaningful way to perpetuate our daughter’s memory.

Support The Donald M. Ephraim Palm Beach Jewish Film Festival

We hope you will consider a gift to ensure we can keep the inspiration and discoveries coming.
As much a labor of love as a mission, The Donald M. Ephraim Palm Beach Jewish Film Festival strives to bring the finest examples of cinema from around the world to South Florida. The chosen films are as diverse as our community. Some focus on Jewish issues, others spotlight Jewish achievement and valor; still others document Jewish culture, arts, and history. All of our films celebrate the Jewish experience and the diversity of the community. Founded in 1990, the festival continues to grow and evolve as we continue to expand our selection of narrative features, short films and documentaries to reflect the tastes and needs of our audience. Now year-round, we continue the process of engaging, entertaining and educating through film events for greater Palm Beach County.

Tubby Stayman Children's Scholarship Fund

Help us provide the next generation of JCC members with the tools and support they need as they navigate our preschool, aftercare and summer camp programs.

The Mandel JCC is building a Jewish future through our early childhood, after school and summer camp programs. We seek to nourish a child’s natural curiosity and excitement while allowing each child to develop at his/her own pace. It is our hope that we will be able to provide all children with these opportunities. However, not all families are in the financial position to enroll. To that end, the Mandel JCC has established the Tubby Stayman Children’s Scholarship Fund. This Fund helps those less fortunate thrive in our preschool, summer camp, after school and special needs programs while being an active part of our Jewish community.

1000+ children reach for the stars by learning and growing in our early childhood and summer day camp programs

Each year we distribute over $465,000 in Scholarship Funds to:

  • 71 Preschool Students
  • 82 Campers
  • 40 After School participants
  • 17 Special Needs families

However, over 75 families were turned away from our programs last year because we didn’t have enough aid to support them. Please help us work towards not turning any families away this year.

William Maerov Early Childhood Education Enhancement Fund

Provides high-quality psychological services in the preschool in order to identify as early as possible those children on the autistic spectrum, children with diverse learning patterns and children with emotional problems.

Established by Pauline and Arnold Maerov

William Maerov tragically lost his life in a plane crash off of the coast of Long Island on June 2. He was only twenty-two-years-old and had just completed his junior year at Georgetown University, where he was double majoring in Political Science and French.

One of the many remarkable things about Will was his inclusiveness and his ability to make others feel special. He brought positivity to others and was a joy to be around. He was destined to make his mark in this world and he had a bright future ahead of him.

To honor his memory, his grandparents Pauline and Arnold Maerov have established the "William Maerov Early Childhood Education Enhancement Fund" at the Mandel JCC in Palm Beach Gardens. By creating this fund, they hope to impact the lives of hundreds of families with children with special needs. The focus will be providing high-quality psychological services in the preschool in order to identify as early as possible those children on the autistic spectrum, children with diverse learning patterns and children with emotional problems. Without these services, these children would otherwise struggle enormously in a preschool setting. The program will also provide counseling for the teachers working with these children and support for the parents as well.

Your gift will make a difference in the lives of many children and we thank you for your generosity and support.
